Power of the Mind – Vision Board

A vision board is usually explained as a set of images that represent your goals and dreams. There are many ways to create one, the main idea is that it should represent your innermost desires, longings, and wishes for yourself. After you complete it, you should put it somewhere where it is visible to you throughout your day.

There are so many things on my mind lately. I want to do so many things, explore so many parts of myself but I just don’t have enough hours in the day to do it. Therefore I decided to organize my thoughts and plans by making vision boards in various places I use frequently in order to focus my mind.

As I was writing in one of my previous blog posts what fundamentally everyone wants is happiness. So I wanted to revisit that idea but on another, maybe more spiritual or deeper level. I realized over the years I am a strong believer in the power of the mind. If you really with all your body and soul want something to happen eventually it will. It just will.

Creating my Vision Board

For me, vision board doesn’t represent my goals as such, for example being rich. I rather see it as my striving to feel certain emotions on a daily basis. This is the one I made couple years ago. It does represent the things I am longing for but I mainly made it as a reminder to myself of what is important to me and it represents the ideas and wishes that I want my daily life to primarily be about.

The images I used were copied a long time ago so I don’t really know who to credit apart from Deepak Chopra who is on several of the quotes but the underlying premises of it were the following concepts:

  • serenity
  • health
  • love
  • gratitude
  • inner peace
  • faith

Revisiting the idea of happiness and the vision board made me realize how much I have dived into those waters. And that makes me think how these actually might work. I am now in the process of making a new one and will be adding to the existing concept.

This one is a working progress, several things are still missing but you get the idea.

Are you making a vision board for you? How are you seeing yours? Do they help you? I am really interested to know. I will update the post once it’s complete, though. Just kind of wanted to share the process I am going through.

Wishing you your dreams come true!

Lena

Love this post. I am a huge believer of the law of attraction and used to carry The Secret around with me everywhere which also promotes a vision board. I haven’t done one in ages though

Dear Kylie, thank you for stopping by my blog. I do believe vision boards can help people stay focused. Whether they bring the actual realization of something, that I don’t know, but since I am a very visual person it helps me stay connected to what I wish to accomplish and things I am grateful for every day.

I think that creating a Vision Board is a very helpful exercise in helping us focus on what is important to us. Several years ago when “The Secret” was such a huge phenomenon, it seems like the message was simply, “wish and it’ll happen.” I think that attitude left a lot of people disappointed. I like that your board is a reminder about what you hope to be and feel rather than a focus on the material things. For all of us, life is about the process of becoming rather than merely attaining.

Yes, I absolutely agree. I don’t believe in ‘wishing and it will happen’, I rather focus on what state of mind I wish to experience daily and things I don’t want to take for granted. Thank you for stopping by my blog.

I did a vision board a few months ago. Arches National Park is on it. I leave Friday for a trip that will include a visit there. It makes me smile every time I see it.
